Pruksa Sees Potential Growth Driven by the Current Government Policy

            The well-known Pruksa Real Estate has set its sights on leadership in the townhome market by 2017, director and chief business officer Piya Prayong said yesterday. Pruksa expects to rank second next year with targeted townhouse sales of Bt2.8 billion, up 12 per cent from Bt2.5 billion this year. "We also target that our townhouse sales will reach Bt7 billion in 2017, making us the market leader in this segment," he added.

            To boost its townhouse sales this year and next, the company has introduced a brand new townhome project called The Connect UP3. The Connect UP3 is consisted of 3 projects in different locations within the city limits of Bangkok.        

            Piya also further commented that the project could benefit from the government policy to provide a tax break for first-time home-buyers. However, he believes the scheme will not have a great impact on overall demand at the lower end of the market, as it will only benefit home-buyers who pay income tax. The scheme is nonetheless expected to drive business growth in the final three months of the year, after the market dropped about 20 per cent in the current quarter due to a vacuum as all parties awaited details of the new government's policy, Piya said.

Sri Trang Agro-Industry Looks to Profit in 2011 as World Rubber Price Expects to Soar

          Kitichai Sincharoenkul, an executive director of Sri Trang Agro-Industry (STA), forecasts that the Thai rubber exports in 2011 will likely double in value due to rising world price. In 2009, it supplied 8.2 percent of the world's rubber demand and 14.9 percent of China's total rubber imports. As a result of strong demand, the group now plans to expand its capacity to 1.5 million tonnes by end-2012. As of 2011, Sri Trang Rubber Plantation Co., Ltd. has land approximately 11,690 rai (1,870 hectares) in total, most of them located in the North of Thailand. This consists of mature rubber plantation under tapping of 250 rai (40 hectares), 3,650 rai (576 hectares) being planted with the age of 1-2 years and to be mature for tapping in 2016, the land area of 3,160 rai (500 hectares) is undergoing rubber planting process to be completed by the end of quarter 3 this year. The balance of 4,630 rai (740 hectares) is scheduled for rubber planting next year.
